Abstract
The general purpose of this research is to understand values as a method to reduce the rates of school violence in the municipality of El Banco Magdalena Colombia. It is also within the framework of encouraging the practice of values in students as a method to reduce the rates of school violence in the municipality of El Banco Magdalena Colombia, supported by the theoretical postulates of Schwartz (2010), Savater. (1998), Corzo (2013), among others; From the qualitative point of view the present investigation is developed under the ethnographic method. The information was collected through the techniques of observation and qualitative interviews. For the purposes of the sample six (6) subjects were taken from the Departmental Educational Institutions: IED Arcesio Cáliz Amador, two teachers were interviewed; IED Lorencita Villegas de Santos interviewed a professor, IED José Benito Barros Palomino, interviewed a professor and IED Santa Teresa de Jesus. The reliability of this population is relative, just as ethics will be applied as a prevailing condition. On the other hand, to finish after analyzing all the categories, it is evident that violence can be shown directly in two ways: physical, destroying school material, stealing objects from a partner, and verbal, criticizing, spreading rumors, among others. Values, being the referential framework for interpreting social facts and knowledge, help organize such (cognitive) knowledge, especially in the social field. Insofar as values are social representations and the fruit of a certain society, it is up to the education, as the first socializing agent, to ensure that values, as a social component, enable the learners to orient their integration to that society, And how it is done depends on your success.
