Abstract

Emotions help to relate and adapt to the world, thus representing a determining factor in survival, therefore, the development of emotional skills is important, since they represent a tool of useful application for all areas of human life. Considering the aforementioned, the present investigation aimed to analyze the importance of managing emotions for a pleasant life. At a theoretical level, the conceptualization of emotion, typologies and emotional intelligence is discussed, as well as the emotional skills and their importance in day to day. Regarding the methodology used, it is a qualitative research, with an ethnographic focus because the emotional characteristics of a community are studied, made up of five (05) key informants. The results obtained confirm that those people with adequate emotional management have a better quality of life, as well as knowing that the most frequent deficits in the emotional area are self-regulation and assertiveness, causing difficulties mainly at work. Therefore, it is concluded that the control of emotions is an essential competence in life, since the integral development of their personality as a requirement for the construction of happiness.
